Christmas was low key this year. Lexi didn't really understand that there are gifts in the colorfully wrapped boxes, but she sure did like looking at the Christmas tree every day. Every morning when we carried her downstairs, she wanted the tree turned on and would point at it as soon as it came into view. She would sit on the floor looking up at it and point to individual bulbs, strings of beads and ornaments, or she would stand directly in front of an ornament and smile at her reflection in it. She would touch them lightly but was careful not to bomb them too hard.
Collin got her a pillow pet doggie, which she fell in love with right away, and plays with every day. She loves plopping him on the ground and flopping down on top of him. If Tom or I try to lay our heads on him, she pulls him away from us.
I took a few photos hoping for a couple of good ones. As Lexi was opening the box with these stacking cups she looked up at me and instantly flashed a smile. It was the first time she ever actually smiled for the camera. Another gift for Lexi was a Curious George book that has a puppet inlaid into the book. I put my fingers in George's paws and made them clap. Lexi loved it, and clapped back. Then she took the book away from me and hugged it to her chest. We have since bought her a little stuffed toy Curious George.
Ahh, but the best gift of all is Grandma's love.
